Hmmm, proper nouns abound

Not to be a fuddy-duddy, but are proper nouns allowed in boojum? Evidently, they keep turning up in the definitions for the timeless boards. Asking for a persnickety friend…

I knew it - I dunno why I even asked, it is ALWAYS a plant thing, a fish thing or a deer thing.

Good point Sys, I knew about Paris and Texas, but will double check, sigh, before I complain again. Good job Alice, Happy New Years to all!

I promise I did not do all that formatting and coloring myself. That wasn't even in the website I copied it from. Boojum is self-formatting.

paris

Plural: parises

Noun
  • A genus of European herbs with a single whorl of leaves.

Never understood why Paris was allowed in Scrabble. Someone explain it.

Limequat wrote:

I don’t think Paris is a word that needs including but I know japan should be.

Syskid wrote:

We are saying that the definitions are wrong, not that the word shouldn't be there, right? Because some of these words look like proper nouns but they can also be improper nouns, like japan which is an enamel varnish. Texas is a structure on a steam boat.

Hello. The Boojum dictionary is continuously being revised to improve accuracy and clarity. Corrections are ongoing - any help is appreciated.

Japan? That’s one of them that I saw, though I didn’t check the definition

Sasa wrote:

I am finding them in the Tmeless boards. I will just keep a list. No worries Alice.

I remember that words like Paris or Texas used to work but I don't know, if they still do.
